Magister Magistri – ‘The Conclave’
Following the conclusion of the Broken Arrow Wars 500 years ago High Queen of the Nemethyrian Empire, Adana Brightmoon was devastated at the destruction that the 100 year war had brought, not only to the land and the people, but on the cultures of Ecrenes as well.
The Conclave was the first part of her great work to prevent such global devastation as that of the ‘Broken Arrow Wars’, and so she established a shadow council that included; the Grand Master of The Wardens; The Head of The Shards; and the high advisors to all the monarchs of the good aligned cultures in Ecrenes; together with several figures many believe to have passed into legend, and some who through their anonymity are able to operate in plain sight. Their purpose to manipulate circumstances so as to anticipate and prevent such wholesale conflict and devastation.
Nemethyrian Rangers
Established 200 years ago, the Nemethyrian Rangers, are a small but highly elite regiment of wood elven scouts.
Specialists in stealth and guerrilla tactics the rangers were suited to operating independently for long periods in unfriendly or inhospitable environments. Often infiltrating enemy territory and operating behind enemy lines, or operating in conflict areas far from their homelands.
They are the military arm of The Shards; The Rangers hide in plain sight to all intents and purposes answering to the High Regent of the Nemethyrian Empire, but in actuality they answer to the needs of The Shards and in so doing the will of the Magister Magisteri.
The Shards
Established alongside the Magister Magistri as the covert intelligence gathering and influencing network of the Magister Magistri. The Head of the Shards is a shadowy figure always referred to as ‘Jackdaw’ after the first head of The Shards; Jimmy the ‘Jackdaw’ who was appointed by Queen Adana.
The Wardens
It is unclear as to when The Wardens were established, they came to notice when the High Queen founded The Shards.
A long time friend of the High Queen who had appeared and assisted in The Broken Arrow Wars, Bayan a human Baarinian later reappeared, after a long absence, accompanied by several monks of an order taking the name of The Wardens.
Whilst The Wardens provide intelligence and spiritual direction to the Magister Magisteri, and the Grand Master holds a seat on the council, in a similar capacity as the ‘Jackdaw’ as advisors only not carrying an official vote.
